    Job Description

    DLZ is looking to fill a Right of Way Agent position in South Bend or Indianapolis, Indiana


    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Negotiate with property owners and public officials to secure purchase or lease of land and right-of-way for utility lines, pipelines and other construction projects.
    • Close real estate transactions.
    • Negotiate property rights with property owners.
    • Negotiate with landholders for access routes and restoration of roads and surfaces.
    • Examine public records to determine ownership and property rights.
    • Notify property owners of construction work schedule within easement on their property or in road right-of-way adjoining their property.
    • Upload documents to INDOT electronic records management system
    • Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Job Qualifications:

    • High School Graduate or equivalent required
    • Associates or Bachelor degree in relevant field preferred.
    • 1 or more years relevant work experience.
    • Active Indiana Broker's license
    • Familiar with various acquisition submittal packages and forms.
    • Ability to pass Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) requirements to become an approved INDOT buyer within 2 months of hire
    • Notary Public Certification preferred.
    • Able to understand and interpret construction plans (road, bridge, pipeline, etc.)
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
    • Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites and complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
