    Job Description

    DLZ Corporation curently has a Drilling Supervisor opportunity in Melvendale, MI.

     

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Assure that the drill crews are prepared, loaded and mobilized to arrive at the designated project location on time.
    • Assure all vehicles, equipment and tools are in working order and verify correct materials are loaded for each job.
    • Supervise, direct, or instruct drillers and/or driller's helpers in procedures.
    • Obtain a clear understanding of each drilling assignment or project from the drilling project manager, project engineer, client or client’s representative.
    • Coordinates with crew, project managers and client to assure work is performed in a competent and professional manner including daily verifications of work performed and working hours.
    • Draft a pre-work load-out list for each drilling project and conduct a pre-work meeting with the drilling crew to provide a clear understanding of the scope of work (ie number of borings, type of drilling required, sampling techniques and project specifications) equipment and tooling needs and a material load-out list.
      Provide the quality control and quality assurance in coordinating, preparing and execution of drilling field projects and activities.
    • Conduct routine field visits to determine any problems, needs or concerns.
    • Establish a point of contact with the client or the client’s representative to discuss or solve any problems that may arise in the field due to changes in the sub surface drilling conditions, access or mechanical problems.
    • Resolve problems that occur in a timely, cost-effective manner.
    • Keep the drilling manager appraised of all field activities on a daily basis.
    • Maintain a complete inventory of parts, tooling (such as rods, barrels, augers, bits, etc.) Keep track of broken, damaged or lost tooling by periodically inspecting inventory sheds and drill rigs. Complete a monthly report identifying broken, damaged or lost equipment.
    • Identify responsible parties and file a report with the drilling manager.
    • Attend pre-work meetings to determine problems or concerns such as access, utilities, water sources, surveying needs, borehole locations, etc.
    • Reviews work of subordinates for conformity to company practices and standards.
    • Assist with proposal preparation and job marketing when needed.
    • Review and address health & safety concerns on projects assigned.
    • Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Job Qualifications:
    • High School Graduate or equivalent required, Associates Degree or higher in relevant field preferred
    • Five years' experience in similar field-related activities.
    • Environmental - 40-Hour OSHA Training Certificate.
    • Class "A" CDL.
    • Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites, complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
    • Must possess a level of proficiency with software programs (Microsoft Office, etc.) inherent to successful completion of the work assigned.
