    Job Description

    DLZ Corporation currently has a rewarding Civil Engineer – Water/Wastewater opportunity in our Detroit, MI office.
    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Perform water and wastewater engineering, construction, and design assignments of varied nature, requiring application of specialized technical expertise performed independent of other personnel.
    • Responsible for water and wastewater design projects of moderate complexity and may have leadership responsibility for less experienced engineers or technicians. 
    • May specialize in a single field, assuming lead roles in a narrow segment of a project and/or coordinating work of specialty groups related to his/her assigned segment of a project.
    • Perform work with general guidance and supervision, or provide support to more experienced personnel.
    • Perform design of water and wastewater structures, systems and equipment items requiring design concepts and the solution of engineering problems.
    • Prepare reports and conduct economic and operating feasibility studies and other studies aimed at evaluating alternative systems, equipment, materials or engineering methods.
    • Prepare construction cost estimates.
    • Coordinate field activities and construction monitoring.
    • Perform construction phase activities including bid evaluations and review of Contractor's shop drawing submittal.
    • Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering

    • 2 or more years’ experience working with design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

    • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) registration required; Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.

    • Experience with GIS required.

    • Experience with water, wastewater, storm water, water distribution and water collection preferred.

    • Hydrology and Hydraulic modeling skills a plus.

    • MACP, PACP, LACP (NAASCO) certification and relevant work experience a plus.

    • Ability to design Public Works Projects using AutoDesk Civil 3D.
